feature film will be THE GIANT OF METROPOLIS, the
weirdest of the Italian sword and sandal films.
There was a glut of these gladiator films after
the success of Ben-Hur and Hercules. But none of
the others takes place 20,000 years ago in a sci-fi
version of Atlantis!
There's
futuristic cities and Italian beauties in 60's style
va-va-va-voom costumes. The star, Gordon Mitchell
was a down and out American body builder who made
it big in Italy even though he couldn't act or speak
the language. The incredibly bad dubbing of the
voices adds to the fun! This spectacle is loaded
with campy feats of strength, larger than-life-villains
and lavish cardboard sets.
