From
Hell It Came
THE BAD FILM SOCIETY GOES GREEN --
WELL, SORT
OF!
The Bad Film Society will appease all those Ashland
Tree-Huggers, except in this case you
don’t hug the tree; the tree hugs you --
TO DEATH!
The eco-unfriendly 1957 feature will be From Hell
It Came. It inspired one of the most infamous movie
reviews of all time: "And to hell it can go!" In
a classic example of the anything-goes monsters
of the '50s, a murdered South Sea island prince
returns as Tabanga, an awkwardly slow
walking killer tree! Run for your lives -- or at
least, stroll! The scowling creature was designed
by Paul Blaisdell, the legendary low budget monster-maker
for such films as She-Creature, Invasion of the
Saucermen, and It! The Terror Beyond Space. See!
Wild tropical dancing!
See! Girl Fights! See! A cockamamie explanation
involving an atomicbomb?!
The evening will begin with some daffy and unusual
shorts sure to
please and bewilder one and all.

Also stay tuned for the 9th episode of the serial
The Lost Planet
from 1953!
On the par with an Ed
Wood movie, it’s considered the worst serial
ever made with
unintentionally hilarious dialogue like "How
are we going to find it,
it's the Lost Planet." It was the last sci-fi
serial ever made…for good
reason. |
