| THE
BAD FILM SOCIETY SALUTES
BORIS KARLOFF & JOHN WAYNE AT THEIR STRANGEST
The
feature will be The Mask of Fu Manchu from
1932 starring Boris Karloff in his first
speaking role. He was cast because his natural lisp
made his voice sound like a snake. A British expedition
rushes to Mongolia to get the sword and mask of
Genghis Khan before the fiendish criminal mastermind
Dr. Fu Manchu can use the relics to proclaim himself
the new Khan and lead the eastern races on a massive
jihad west to exterminate the white race. Get ready
for tombs, chambers of unspeakable tortures, an
alligator pit, mental enslavement drugs, virgin
sacrifice, a gigantic death ray gun and Myrna
Loy as Fu Manchu’s very vampy and evil
daughter. Hubba-hubba!
Speaking
of Genghis Khan…John Wayne was horribly
cast as him in the 1956 Howard Hughes production,
The Conqueror. It is way too pathetic to
sit though the whole thing but we will screen
the outrageous dance sequence with Susan Hayward.
Double hubba-hubba!
There
will be a lip-smackin’, paddy wackin’
pot luck dinner followed by delightfully strange
cinema. Bring your cringe inducing old videos
to give away as door prizes!

Also
stay tuned for the 7th installment of the 1936 serial,
Undersea Kingdom starring Crash Corrigan and Lon
Chaney, Jr. featuring robots, spiked tanks and ray
guns in the Lost City of Atlantis! One of the best!
This is an alcohol-free, smoke-free event.
